Achieve Your Best
My name is Nishay and I want to help you achieve a CARS score beyond what you thought possible. This section can be challenging, but no one is innately doomed to failure. With the right tools and study techniques, anyone can succeed. My job isn't just to give you general advice on how to study for CARS, it's to help you find the approach that's best suited to you, whether you're starting at a 118 or reaching for that perfect score.
There's no one-size-fits-all method to study for the CARS section. I'll tell you how I studied and what strategies I used, but those will not necessarily be the best for you. Instead, I focus on pinpointing your strengths and weaknesses to develop the most efficient and effective ways for you to study. Each session, we’ll reevaluate your progress and I’ll guide you in identifying and eliminating the barriers holding you back.
Having gone through an unconventional educational journey, I firmly believe there's no single best way to learn. I was unschooled (like homeschooled, but without a curriculum), and never even stepped into a classroom until I was 15. I took city college classes in place of high school classes, then went to UC Santa Barbara, where I graduated in 2023 with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in History. My range of learning experiences have given me adaptability and flexibility, which I use to provide each of my students with the best, most personalized experience possible.
Experience
I have experience tutoring the CARS section of the MCAT for over 80 students since February of 2022.
I took the MCAT in September of 2021 and got a perfect score on the CARS section. While I think that proves that I can do well on the section, it alone is not enough to say I'm good at teaching it. Teaching in and of itself is a skill, one which I have been honing for years. I've been teaching/tutoring/coaching various things since I was in high school, including piano, ice hockey, SATs, math, writing, and organic chemistry.
I was trained as a tutor at UCSB where I tutored organic chemistry for two years. I have been teaching private writing lessons for middle and high school since October of 2020 (more info on that here), and I currently coach an 18U youth ice hockey team in the Bay Area. Based on how much I've done it, I think it goes without saying that I love teaching and I have experience teaching not only a variety of subjects but also a variety of students. I won't just tell you how I did the CARS section, I'll help you figure out the way that works best for you.
If you would like to see more about myself and my experience outside of just tutoring, here is something resembling my resume.
